LIONS CLUB OF LOS ANGELES, the L.A. "Host" Lions Club
The L.A. Host Lions Club was chartered in 1918 by Lions Clubs international and has sponsored, firectly or indrectly, nearly all of the hundreds of Lions Clubs in Southern California. for more thatn 90 years, it has served the Los Angeles community, particularly its youth and in recent years it has focused on servicing the Echo Park community where it now meets.
Lark Ellen Lions Charities
With a history going back to 1919 and its sponsorship of a home for orphaned newboys, the L.A. Host Lions Club manages a foundation known as Lark Ellen Lions Charities. Since 1973, Lark Ellen has donated more than $1 million to organizations that benefit inner-city boys and girls.
Leo Clubs:
The L.A. Host Lions Club supports and advises youth affilates called Leo Clubs. specifically, the L.A. Host Lions Club sponsors the L.A. Red Shield youth Center in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles and El Centro Del Pueblo Lion Club that meets at El Centro Del Pueblo int he Echo Park area of Los Angeles. Leos develop leadership skils as organizers, time managers and motivators of their peers; Leos learn through experience the importance of cooperation through community service and Leos are exposed to opportunity to excel to develop positive character traits and to receive recognition for their service to the community.
